Request
A recent FOI request stated that in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 there were fewer than 5 staff in each of the categories of Associate Specialist - Dental/Oral Surgery, Consultant, Dental Department Manager, Healthcare Assistant - Dental, and Orthodontic Therapist. In fact the total numbers of staff in all of these positions amounts to 11, 14 and 14 respectively.
During this same time period though the number of admin staff has increased from 5 to 11 and the number of dental nurses has increased from 9 to 23.
Can you please provide a job description for these two roles and explain why it is necessary to have such an abundance of support staff for an area which is seeing virtually no patients?
