Request
A
I would like to ask for the official population figures for (failing official numbers, estimates will suffice):
2019
2020
2021
B
I would also like to know the estimated population figure for:
2022
C
Is there a reason this data has not been updated during the pandemic and is currently four years out of date on official government sites?
This FOI also requires a response – Population statistics July 2021 FOI (gov.je)
D
What was the average population of 12 to 18 year olds in Jersey in July 2021?
E
What was the average population of 18 to 24 year olds in Jersey in July 2021?
....as does this one – Census 2021 population data FOI (gov.je)
F
I would like to know the current population of the Island of Jersey as provided in the Jersey Census of Sunday 21st March 2021
Response
A and B
The information published on the Government website is complete and provides the most up-to-date estimates that are currently available. Statistics Jersey has not produced any population estimates for 2020-2022 and the most recent estimate is for end of 2019. Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.
Population estimates (gov.je)
C
Due to the running of the 2021 Census, Statistics Jersey have not yet produced estimates for 2020 or 2021. This will form part of future work streams which will involve recalculating the between Census period (2011 to 2021) estimates based on the latest census data and also producing new estimates moving forward.
D and E
No specific estimates have been produced for July 2021. However, information on age breakdowns at the time of the 2021 Census 21 March 2021 are available in Census Bulletin 1 which is publicly available on www.gov.je. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
