Request
I have read that sometime in Jersey's history, a deal was made between the Government and chemical company [name redacted], which specified that if an immediate payout was accepted from [name redacted] (which it was), then in the future no compensation could be sought should any local residents experience negative health effects caused by this PFAS contamination.
Where can we see specific details of this agreement?
Response
The requested Deed of Settlement is exempt under Article 26 (Information supplied in confidence) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 as detailed in the previous FoI response linked below.
Article applied
Article 26 - Information supplied in confidence
Information is absolutely exempt information if –
(a) it was obtained by the scheduled public authority from another person (including another public authority); and
(b) the disclosure of the information to the public by the scheduled public authority holding it would constitute a breach of confidence actionable by that or any other person.
