I would like to know the number of Motor Neurone Disease diagnoses made in Jersey each year for the past 10 years please.
Response
Health and Community Services (HCS) does not hold data on the number of newly diagnosed cases of Motor Neurone Disease made per annum broken down by year. Therefore, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law applies.
The HCS Neuroscience Department receive two to three new referrals for patients with Motor Neurone Disease per year, on average.
There are currently 17 patients with Motor Neurone Disease under the care of the HCS Neuroscience Department.

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –
(a) it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or
(b) it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
