Request

Please, on a year by year basis, confirm how many cases of foetal alcohol syndrome has been identified in babies and children in Jersey from 2011 to 2015. If possible, please also breakdown the annual figures by age in one yearly intervals from birth. Please could you also provide a narrative of the approach the health professional, social services and other relevant agencies take once a case of foetal alcohol syndrome has been identified.

Response

There was one confirmed case in the last five years, 2011 to 2015.

The management of the baby would depend on the severity of the presenting clinical features, it would involve the wider multidisciplinary developmental team, so would depend on the individual baby.
