Request

How does someone apply for an importation licence for medical cannabis?

Response

To apply for an importation licence for cannabis-based medicines for medicinal use (CBPM), the Jersey patient who wishes to import the CBPM needs to send the following details to CDL@health.gov.je

  • A copy of their prescription (which needs to be legally valid)
  • Details of the pharmacy that will be dispensing the prescription – name and address

The patient will then need to forward the import licence to the dispensing pharmacy, so that they can apply to the Home Office for an export licence.

The Jersey patient needs to provide Jersey Customs with a copy of the import licence to confirm that they can lawfully import the medicines into Jersey.
