Request
Following the support from Matt Thomas, CEO of Ports of Jersey of the letter of intent by Blue Islands and Universal Hydrogen to introduce hydrogen powered aircraft to the island; it is understood that while the ‘emissions’ of the aircraft may be less than the current fossil fuel propulsion systems the hydrogen production is currently less environmentally sustainable than those fossil fuels. Therefore what research has been completed prior to the Ports of Jersey support given most hydrogen used today is extracted from natural gas in a process that requires far more energy to produce than it creates, emits vast amounts of carbon dioxide and also releases methane, a particularly potent greenhouse gas and no current scalable alternative production or carbon dioxide or methane capturing method exist?
