GP medical test reports (FOI)

Has the project to allow GP practices to receive medical test reports undertaken by the hospital, via the Internet, been put into operation?

If not, why not?

If not operational, when is it due to become so? How much has the project cost to date?

Response

1. The Health and Social Services Department has no plan to publish test results via the internet. However, in conjunction with primary care providers the department plans to implement data sharing and integration between primary and secondary care as appropriate, including electronic transmission of test results.                                                                            

2. In respect of the above plan, funding is being consid​​ered as part of the medium term financial plan. Initial investigation and planning has already commenced.

3. This will be subject to funding and detailed planning. 

4. No expenditure has been committed to date.
