Cow Methane samples (FOI)

Request

Over the past two years the Univesity of London has sampled nearly 100 cows on the island to see how much methane they produce.

Please provide further details for, which farms the cows belong to, details of how the samples were being collected, who spearheaded this locally, and the contacts at the University of London.

The Government of Jersey does not hold this information, the initiative was conducted by private enterprise and is not part of any official Government programme. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies. 

Article 3 - Meaning of “information held by a public authority”

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
