Response
The ‘Tobacco Duty (Cultivation of Tobacco) (Jersey) Regulations, 1973’, made under the ‘Loi (1934) sur la Régie et le Mode de Perception de l’Impôt sur le Tabac’, were repealed by the Customs and Excise (Jersey) Law 1999 (‘the 1999 Law’).
Article 39 of the 1999 Law establishes a requirement for a person to hold an excise licence issued by the Agent of the Impôts to grow, produce or manufacture goods liable to excise duty. This response is therefore provided on the basis of the number of licences to grow tobacco plants issued under the 1989 Law.
Data is only held for the period 2016-2023 and no licences to grow tobacco plants have been issued during that time.
