Response
A
There are currently no unfilled vacancies in Government of Jersey primary schools. As at 17 July 2023 there were 11 unfilled vacancies across Government of Jersey secondary schools.
Some of these vacancies may be filled between now and September as recruitment processes are ongoing, therefore it is not possible to provide a breakdown of vacancies by school as this figure can change daily.
B
There are currently five supply teachers from UK agencies on island supporting Government of Jersey. It has been determined that to provide the figures fewer than five would likely breach the privacy of individuals therefore disclosure control has been applied under Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
C
The agency teachers were being housed at an average cost of £1,850 per month per person. This cost is funded by central funds in Children, Young People, Education and Skills.
D
There are six vacancies being filled by Jersey based supply teachers. It is not possible to provide the data separately for the primary and secondary sector and by school as it has been determined that to provide the figures fewer than five would likely breach the privacy of individuals therefore disclosure control has been applied under Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.
