The notice periods for leaving a teaching post in secondary schools and Highlands College is ambiguous with staff receiving different advice from HR, senior leaders and unions.

Please clarify how the notice periods stated in the contract work.

Please advise how this can be made clearer to staff so all staff across schools and colleges receive correct information from Head Teacher and Principals.

Termination of employment by either side requires two months' notice in the Spring and Autumn terms effective on 30 April and 31 December and three months' notice in the Summer term effective on 31 August.
The latest dates for giving such notice are 31 October, 28 February and 31 May. Teachers resigning their appointments will be required to give notice in accordance with the periods specified below:
