F and G
Supply teachers are defined as qualified teachers who are not directly employed by one school or college and who make themselves available for work in schools on a zero hours or fixed term contract basis. Jersey schools recruit supply teachers from the local supply teachers list on an as needed basis for short and medium term cover and for a variety of reasons including covering colleague absence due to illness, training, parental leave or other exceptional circumstances. Local supply teachers are paid by each individual school’s supply budget on a monthly basis. The use of supply teachers across Government of Jersey schools is not collated centrally and would require manipulation of data therefore, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
