B

Please advise which AEDs and equipment are routinely carried in placed in ambulance vehicles?

C

Response

A

A list of public locations of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) has been provided in response to a previous Freedom of Information request, and is available on www.gov.je at the following link:

Publicly accessible defibrillators in Jersey (FOI)

As this information is available elsewhere, Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

As noted in the above response, there is no designated guardian singularly responsible for all of the AEDs available to the public in Jersey. However, Health and Community Services and the States of Jersey Ambulance Service provide assistance in maintaining the devices.

The public AED devices currently known to the States of Jersey Ambulance service are from three manufacturers. These are Zoll, iPAD and Philips.

The States of Jersey Ambulance Service has limited involvement at public events, gatherings or public safety initiatives. The majority of public events are covered by volunteer organisations who will provide their own AED and equipment as part of their event cover governance. Any event cover undertaken by the States of Jersey Ambulance Service will be supported by the provision of a fully equipped frontline vehicle with a Zoll X-Series defibrillator, as well as an iPAD or Zoll AED and associated equipment (i.e. pads), as detailed in the response to Question B.

Please see the attached table detailing equipment carried within States of Jersey Ambulance Service vehicles:

C

Health and Community Services (HCS) has 38 Intrepid Defibrillators. These are multifunctional and, as well as AED functionality, they offer monitoring, cardioversion, and manual defibrillation. Some devices also have pacing function.

In addition to the above defibrillators, HCS has 10 AED units from two manufacturers (Philips and iPAD).
