Request

Can you please tell me:
How many States staff have taken VR (voluntary redundancy) since the scheme opened?
How many staff have been taken on by the States since the VR scheme opened? Have normal recruitment processes been followed in each case of new recruitments? If not, please give details in each case.

Response

All figures exclude Jersey Ports.

The Voluntary Release Scheme opened in June 2015, with a total of 90.7 FTE (full time equivalent employees), as of 29 February 2016, leaving the organisation, with a further 3 FTE due to leave by the end of 2016.

A new voluntary release scheme for 2016 opened at the beginning of year, and no staff have left under this scheme (as of 24 March 2016). In addition, there has been a net decrease of 124.9 FTE leaving the departments.

Since the scheme opened in June 2015, a total of 285.1 FTE joined the organisation from June 2015 to February 2016. In addition, 110.4 FTE who were previously on a zero hour agreement have been given a permanent or fixed term contract. Normal recruitment and appointment processes have been followed in each case of new recruitment.

However, since January 2015, headcount within the States of Jersey has seen a gradual decrease in FTE and, as at the 29 February 2016, FTE has decreased by 217.9 (January 2015 to February 2016).
