How much money has the Health Service received from motor insurance companies in 2014 and 2015 (if 2015 figures are available) for the reimbursement of costs incurred through treating road accident victims? Legislation exists for such treatment costs to be repaid by insurers.
Response
The Health and Social Services Department received the following monies in 2014 and 2015 from motor insurance companies for patients who were the victim of motor traffic accidents:
- in 2015, we received £37,559.50
- in 2014, we received £2,402
These figures are reported on a cash received basis.
