Response
A
The amount of stamp duty collected for each year is publicly available in the Annual Reports for the Court Service which are published on www.gov.je. Please see the following link:
Judicial Greffe reports and documents (gov.je)
The Court Service Annual Report for 2023 is in preparation for publication, but it can be disclosed that the Stamp Duty Received by the Public Registry in 2023 was £29,095,000.
B
Out of the approximately £26m stamp duty collected in 2023 on the contracts alone by the Public Registry, £2.1m was attributable to duty charged at the higher rate.
C
The purchases referred to were by share transfer and so incurred no stamp duty. They would have been subject to Land Transaction Tax (LTT) which is collected by Revenue Jersey.
