Single-sex toilets in schools (1) (FOI)

There is provision in the Discrimination Law (2013) for single-sex toilets for women as a protected characteristic. However, some schools in Jersey appear to be converting their single-sex toilets into gender neutral toilets.

Please confirm following for all of the primary and secondary schools in Jersey:

Which schools offer single-sex toilet facilities for girls and boys?

B

Which schools have gender-neutral toilets for students?

C

Which schools offer only gender-neutral toilets for students? 

D

Which schools offer both gender-neutral and single-sex toilets for students?

E

Which schools have an existing third space for those students who are unable or unwilling to use single-sex toilets?

F

For schools with gender neutral toilets:

i) Which schools have toilet cubicles with floor to ceiling walls, therefore no way to see above or under the door or walls?

ii) Which schools have wash basins inside the cubicles?

iii) Which schools have shared wash basins in a communal area outside of the cubicle?

All Government of Jersey schools would review their facilities based on the needs of the cohort of students within the setting and offer an alternative facility.
