Response

A

Hautlieu school closed for six strike days during the period in question (September 2022 to July 2023 and September 2023 to 25 May 2024) resulting in the following lessons being cancelled:

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) each student will have had 30 lessons cancelled.

Key Stage 5 (Year 12 and Year 13) the average Year 12 A-Level student has 17 lessons per week (a small percentage will have a few less or few more) plus tutor time.

The average Year 12 International Baccalaureate student will have 23 lessons per week plus tutor time. The average Year 13 A-Level student has 15 lessons per week plus tutor time.  The average Year 13 International Baccalaureate student will have 23 lessons per week plus tutor time.

Therefore, in Year 12 and Year 13 each student will have had a three-day share of this weekly total cancelled during the strike days (due to subject timetables the pattern may not be exactly the same on those days for each student contingent on subject choice, and so forth).

Individual student timetables would need to be reviewed to calculate the exact number of cancelled lessons therefore the department has determined that to produce the data would take in excess of 12.5 working hours therefore Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Please note regarding the November 2023 storm, parts of the school were physically damaged and therefore the school was required to close. No lessons were cancelled as they were all held online.

B

Teacher strike action.

C

The following total number of students were enrolled in year 12 at Hautlieu as at the September census:

2022 – 302

2023 – 305

D

As at the latest census, January 2024:

  • 37 of the 302 have left Hautlieu
  • 8 of the 305 have left Hautlieu.

E

F
