Please list all the staff vacancies in the Hospital, as of 1 June 2024, by categories (Clinical, Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Administrative) and, separately in the Health and Community Services management (Managers, Supporting Staff).

Health and Community Services’ (HCS’) staffing and vacancy data is included in the Workforce Report within the HCS Advisory Board papers published on www.gov.je:

The most recent HCS Advisory Board meeting took place on 30 May 2024, with latest workforce data reported as at end of April 2024. Vacancies by staff type can be found in the updated Workforce Report, available at the following link:

Figures are reported at month end. Data for May 2024 and June 2024 will be included in future HCS Advisory Board papers and published to www.gov.je at the page linked above. As this information is due for future publication, Article 36 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied. 

As noted in previous Freedom of Information responses published to www.gov.je, HCS do not have dedicated management departments. Non-clinical managers, administrative and support staff are encompassed within the Civil Servant and Manual Worker pay groups. It is important to recognise that the Civil Servant pay group includes Allied Health Professional clinical roles, such as physiotherapists, pharmacists, Occupational Therapists and social workers.

Article 36 - Information intended for future publication

(1) Information is qualified exempt information if, at the time when the request for the

information is made, the information is being held by a public authority with a view to its

being published within 12 weeks of the date of the request.

(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground

must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant –

(a) of the date when the information will be published;

(b) of the manner in which it will be published; and

(c) by whom it will be published.

(3) In this Article, “published” means published –

(a) by a public authority; or

(b) by any other person.

Public Interest Test

Article 36 is a qualified exemption. As such a public interest test has been conducted to determine whether, on balance, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.  

Public interest considerations favouring disclosure:

  • disclosure of the information would support transparency and promote accountability to the general public.

Public interest considerations favouring withholding the information:  

  • HCS staffing and vacancy data is made available to the HCS Advisory Board in line with the meeting schedule detailed on www.gov.je, and updated information is published on www.gov.je in the Board reports at frequent intervals following these meetings. It is reasonable for a Scheduled Public Authority to publish reports in an orderly manner, following completion of appropriate internal processes. Publishing in advance, and in such close proximity to the expected publication date, would potentially undermine the orderly publication and conduct of work (when the public benefit of earlier publication under the Law would derive limited benefit).​
