Further to the previous Freedom of Information request 'Most services are offered to departments at zero charge. Due to capacity constraints, specialised skills and equipment required and limited availability of certain in-house expertise, not all requests can be handled by The Studio at zero cost. Some design, videography, and photography services will need to be outsourced to freelancers or agencies at a cost. Departments will cover the costs of creative work. C

What are the standard working hours for employees in the corporate communications team, The Studio and press office team and how many hours are they paid for? Is this consistent throughout the year or are there times when they work reduced hours but are paid the same?

Response

A

Due to capacity constraints, specialised skills and equipment required, and limited availability of certain in-house expertise, not all requests can be handled by The Studio at zero cost.  Types of services that have been charged for are listed below:

  • Video
  • Photography
  • Design
  • Animation
  • Illustration.

B

The Studio is not a profit centre.  Occasionally, affordable creative services and expertise is provided to selected Arm’s Length organisations when there is available capacity.  The funds generated are used to purchase creative equipment and to fund additional support during busier times.

C

The standard working hours for all employees is 37.5 hours per week which is consistent throughout the year.  As part of the Government of Jersey’s flexible working policy, and as it is not possible to claim payment for additional hours worked outside contracted hours, time off in lieu (TOIL) is given throughout the year for additional hours worked on major incidents and other events.
