Please confirm how many compaints regarding noise or mess from herring gulls have been recived since 2019.  

Response

In accordance with the Infrastructure and Environment Department – Environment and Consumer Protection’s Retention Schedule, details of complaints and enquiries are kept for a period of three years after record closure. Therefore Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.   

However, since 2022, Regulation - Housing and Nuisance has received 83 complaints regarding seagulls.

Article 3 Meaning of “information held by a public authority”

For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –

(a)     it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or

(b)     it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.​
