Following on from the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) public consultation and the wider issues regarding the protection of local Jersey waters what, if any, consultation has taken place with Jersey's neighbours?

There was a proposal in 2009 / 2010 for a trans-boundary Marine Park to include the Channel Islands, Brittany and Normandy; were the proposals in this examined and considered please? If so, where can it be found?

None. Following lodging, the Marine Spatial Plan is now being reviewed and consulted on by the Environment Housing and Infrastructure Scrutiny Panel ahead of the States debate in October.

As part of regular Inter island discussions Jersey and Guernsey’s officers that work on Marine Spatial Plan workstreams have kept each other updated every few weeks.

Brittany and Normandy Fisheries committees are receiving briefings ahead of the States debate. The subject may also be discussed at regional dialogue meetings in early October.

The above project was set up by the Agence Aires Marines Protegees under the Sarkozy Government and then stopped under the Hollande government. France is currently working towards a 2026 target relating to management of the Natural 2000. Communications between governments as key reciprocal stakeholders are being maintained.
