Request

A

For what reason did the Health and Community Services, and the Customer and Local Services departments receive £108,000 from GlaxoSmithKline in 2020?

B

Please list all donations, grants and benefits from pharmaceutical companies to all Government of Jersey departments from 2019 to date; and the reasons given for each sum received.

Response

A

Extensive searches of the 2020 accounts have been conducted. It has not been possible to identify the payment referenced, though it is acknowledged this is listed in the GlaxoSmithKline disclosure report for the same year.

A single income transaction of £555 can be found from this company for the period.

B

Identifying records of income related to donations, grants or benefits from pharmaceutical companies to the Government of Jersey would require significant manual review of all income recorded in ledgers for the time period in question against all known pharmaceutical companies utilised. The resource required to perform such analysis and reconciliation exceeds that prescribed in the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Therefore, Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article applied

Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
