Response
A
Please see the tables below for Health and Community Services (HCS) current staff numbers, broken down by staff group and grade within that staff group, showing totals including and excluding zero hour staff.
As noted in previous Freedom of Information responses, Health and Community Services does not have dedicated ‘management departments’. It is a predominantly clinically-led organisation, with many teams led or managed by doctors, nurses and Allied Health Professionals, as relevant to the service area.
Each clinical Care Group is led by a medical consultant known as a Chief of Service, with each clinical service of the Care Group led by a medical consultant denoted as Clinical Lead. Mental Health and Social Care have a different multi-disciplinary structure more appropriate to those services.
It is important to recognise that the Civil Servant pay group includes Allied Health Professional clinical roles, such as pharmacists, Biomedical Scientists, physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and social workers.
The 2023 Review of Health and Community Services Leadership and Management Capacity accessible on statesassembly.gov.je outlines the management structure of HCS and specifies the roles of Executive Directors, General Management and Specialist Managers that constitute the Department management:

A Freedom of Information response published to www.gov.je in July 2024 details the Health and Community Services management roles as of June 2024:
