Please provide the month end statistics for the past three years to the current date for the number of inmates in each of the four wings at La Moye prison and the total capacity for each wing for each period reported.

If there have been any reasons why the capacity has changed between periods, please state a reason such as upgrade works resulting in reduced capacity and so forth.

Please also provide the number of full-time equivalent staff by job description for each period reported. Please also include the number of job vacancies per job description per reported period.

The Prison does not collate statistics pertaining to the population of prisoners held on each wing for month or quarter end, therefore Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies. Please see the following link to the published States of Jersey Prison Service Annual Report 2020 to 2023 Paragraph four which will cover the total capacity of each wing and development plans. Paragraph five for the data on the Prison population. As this information is accessible by other means, Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.

It is not possible to provide the number of job vacancies per each quarter for the past three years as this information is not recorded in a reportable format. Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies. However, it can be confirmed that there are no current vacancies.

Article 3 - Meaning of “information held by a public authority”
For the purposes of this Law, information is held by a public authority if –
(a) it is held by the authority, otherwise than on behalf of another person; or
(b) it is held by another person on behalf of the authority.
Article 23 - Information accessible to applicant by other means
(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it is reasonably available to the applicant, otherwise than under this Law, whether or not free of charge.
(2) A scheduled public authority that refuses an application for information on this ground must make reasonable efforts to inform the applicant where the applicant may obtain the information.
