Within the last five years, how many Police Officers have been involved in road traffic accidents whilst on duty?

(a) Of those incidents, how many were formally investigated?

(b) How many of those incidents were investigated by way of examination of dash-cam footage from Police vehicles?

(c) How many of those incidents required the attention of a collision investigator? 

(d) Of those formally investigated, how many of those Officers were charged? 

(e) Of those charged, how many led to a conviction and of what type? 

(f) Of those charged, how many received a Parish Hall caution?

(g) Of those incidents, how many were investigated by way of examination of dash-cam footage from Police vehicles?

Within the last five years, how many red traffic light violations of any type of driver (civilian or public services) have been recorded?

(a) Of those red traffic light violations, how many have led to a charge of dangerous driving?

States of Jersey Police confirm that since the beginning of 2019 the following numbers of road traffic collisions (RTCs) involving police officers on duty have been reported. 

It should be noted that police officers are required to report all incidents of damage, including, for example, minor scratches and wing mirror clashes.

1a 5 of these incidents were formally investigated

1b 5 were investigated using dash-cam / body-worn camera footage

1c Fewer than 5 incidents required the attention of a Forensic Collision Investigator. Where numbers are fewer than five, disclosure control is applied to avoid identification of individuals.  Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

1d Fewer than 5 have been charged. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has also been applied

1e-f Fewer than 5 have been either convicted or received a Parish Hall caution. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has again been applied

Since the beginning of 2019 there have been 411 incidents of red traffic light violations involving any type of driver

2a      Of these 411 incidents, fewer than 5 have led to a charge of dangerous driving

Article 25 - Personal information

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.​​
