GOJ decommissioned laptops and devices (FOI)

What happens with GOJ decommissioned devices (phones, Laptops, Tablets, etc)? Are they disposed, sold or perhaps given away to schools or local charities?

What is the GOJ position for GOJ decommissioned devices? Is there a GOJ policy?

Response

Decommissioned devices are disposed of in line with Information Security requirements.  This allows for the secure disposal or recycling of hardware.   

There is no Government of Jersey policy specifically related to decommissioned devices, however the Government of Jersey Information Security Policy and Asset Management Standard both provide reference to Information Security considerations in respect of the decommissioning of hardware.
