Q1. Please would you set out what is said in writing to UK teachers who apply for advertised teaching posts in Jersey about arrangements for their transferring their pension accrual from the UK TPS to thle Jersey Teachers Superannuation Fund - that is to say, arrangements based on both UK and Jersey rules.

Q2. Please also say (i) how many serving UK teachers applied for teaching posts in Jersey in 2023 and 2024, (ii) how many of those applicants were eventually appointed, (iii) how many applicants withdrew their candidacies before the final selection stage for pensions-related reason, and ditto re candidates actually selected for appointment.

Response

A1. Information around transferring pension into the Jersey Teachers Superannuation Fund (JTSF) is provided on the Government of Jersey webpages (www.gov.je\yourpension) under the Transferring in a previous pension webpage. The Government of Jersey Public Employees Pensions Team cannot provide any guidance on the UK Teachers Pension Scheme, this would have to be obtained through Teachers Pension Scheme in the UK.

A2. It is not possible to provide data on UK teachers applying for teaching posts in Jersey as it is not recorded in a reportable format, Article 3 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 applies.
