Hello,
Please can you respond to my following request for information.
Q:
Over the last 5 years how many litigant in person, that is people who bring a claim in court without being represented by a lawyer (a solicitor or advocate) have successfully achieved their Order of Justice?
Thank you.
Response
Order of Justice information in respect of litigant in person data is not recorded in a way that allows statistics to be produced other that by manually searching all civil cases heard individually. This would significantly exceed the cost allowed under the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014. Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 therefore applies.
Article applied
Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive
(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
