Please can you provide a breakdown of all the costs involved in holding the Senatorial by-election? Please include specific details of the cost of hiring a production crew to film all the hustings, the cost to each parish in staging the hustings and holding the election, the cost to the States Assembly in administration.

Initial costs incurred by the States Greffe in relation to the Senatorial by-election are listed below:
| Website design and hosting, campaign design, social media and management | £8,500 |
| Leaflets and candidate manifestos, including distribution costs to all households | £11,500 |
| Filming | £12,000 |
A number of other costs will be incurred by both the States Greffe and Judicial Greffe as a result of the Senatorial by-election, but full details of these costs will not be known until all expense claims and invoices have been submitted and processed.
We would therefore advise that you submit another Freedom of Information request in late February 2017 when all costs should be finalised.
For information, costs still to be finalised include:
- printing and stationery
- hired services (staff)
- hire of premises (polling stations and hustings)
- travel expenses
- provisions
- postage
- telephone
- advertising expenses
- other administrative expenses (sound systems for the hustings etc)
This response has been issued on behalf of the States Greffe. The States Greffe is responsible for the information held by (and on behalf of) both itself and the States Assembly. Neither the States Assembly nor the States Greffe form part of the Government of Jersey and the Government was not involved either in the examination and retrieval of any information required for this response, nor in the drafting of the response itself.
