Summary

This report analyses how the health and behaviour of adults in Jersey aged between 40 and 59 has changed over the past decade, between 2007 and 2017.

The report is based on a similar publication by Public Health England and draws attention to the health and health related behaviours of Islanders in their middle ages, who made up almost a third (31 per cent) of the population at the 2011 census.

Data presented in this report are taken from the Jersey Annual Social Surveys (JASS) and the subsequent Jersey Opinion and Lifestyle Survey (JOLS) from 2007 onwards.

This report compares selected results from the above surveys for a set of health-related questions covering a broad range of health and lifestyle subject areas such as:

  • obesity
  • smoking
  • alcohol consumption
  • physical activity
  • diet
  • general health conditions
