Summary
​​Jersey’s labour market report is published every six months and covers key aspects of both public and private sector total employment.
The latest report shows that in December 2011:
- total employment was 53,790, which is an increase of 260 on an annual basis
- the private sector saw an increase in employment of 320 compared with December 2010, driven by the service industries (up by 400 on an annual basis)
- the public sector recorded a decrease of 50
- the finance sector recorded an annual increase of 80 employees compared to December 2010, despite a decrease of 60 employees during the latter half of 2011
- the total number of vacancies for full-time positions in the private sector was the lowest for at least 12 years
