Review of Registration
La Palloterie, Ivystill Lane, St Saviour
Purpose of the Report
To seek to confirm the Minister’s intention to review the registration of La Palloterie, Ivystill Lane, St Saviour and to amend it such that only No.2 (Vale View House) and No.5 (Vale View Cottage) remain on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as Buildings of Local Interest.
Background and discussion
The Minister previously considered a report on the matter prepared by Jersey Heritage dated 12 June 2008 and determined that only No.2 (Vale View House) and No.5 (Vale View Cottage) was of sufficient interest to warrant their retention on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as BLIs. A notice of the Minister’s intent to amend the registration of this site was served on the owners of the properties on 11 August 2008 in order to provide an opportunity for representations to be made.
No representations have been received
Legal and resource implications
The inclusion of buildings and places in the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey is consistent with the purposes of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002.
Recommendation
On the basis of the recommendation of Jersey Heritage to review the registration of La Palloterie, Ivystill Lane, St Saviour and to amend it such that only No.2 (Vale View House) and No.5 (Vale View Cottage) remain on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as Buildings of Local Interest, and in the absence of any representations, the Minister is further recommended to confirm the amendment to the Register.
Reason(s) for Decision
Only the particular interest of No.2 (Vale View House) and No.5 (Vale View Cottage), as identified and described in the report and relative to the published criteria for selection, justifies their inclusion on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as BLIs, and;
It accords with the States Strategic Plan commitment of protecting and sympathetically managing the Island’s built heritage assets.
