Review of Outbuildings
Outbuildings at The Mount, Rue de la Petite Falaise, Trinity
Purpose of the Report
To seek to confirm the Minister’s intention not to add Outbuildings at The Mount, Rue de la Petite Falaise, Trinity to the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a Building of Local Interest (BLI).
Background and discussion
The Minister previously considered a report on the matter prepared by Jersey Heritage dated 07 May 2008 and determined that this building and place was not of sufficient interest to warrant its addition to the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a BLI. A notice of Minister’s intent not to add this site to the Register was served on the owner of the property on 11 August 2008 in order to provide an opportunity for representations to be made.
A Report on the status of the outbuildings at The Mount, Bouley Bay Hill, Trinity (March 2008) Hartigans has been submitted in support of the potential registration of these buildings. The issues raised are not considered to be of sufficient merit to warrant registration and are addressed in the JH report.
Legal and resource implications
The inclusion of buildings and places in the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey is consistent with the purposes of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002.
Recommendation
On the basis of the recommendation of Jersey Heritage not to add Haut du Mont, Rue de la Hauteur, St Helier to the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a Building of Local Interest, having had regard to the representation received, the Minister is further recommended to confirm his intent of not adding this building and place to the Register as a BLI.
Reason(s) for Decision
The particular interest of Haut du Mont, Rue de la Hauteur, St Helier, as identified and described in the report and relative to the published criteria for selection, does not justify its inclusion on Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a BLI.
