This report has been prepared by Jersey Heritage as part of its responsibility under a Service Level Agreement to provide reports and recommendations to the Minister for Planning and Environment on the architectural, historical, archaeological and other significance of buildings and places.
The assessment undertaken and the recommendation given in relation to the above building and place is made under the auspices of Article 51 of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law, 2002; and the criteria for the listing and grading of heritage assets adopted and published by the Minister for Planning and Environment.
The report also includes the views and advice offered by the Listing Advisory Group in relation to the assessment of this building and place.

Historic interest
Mid-late C19 with C17 & C18 remains.
Architectural interest
The resurvey team were not permitted access to the property to review its architectural and historical interest. The listing recommendation is therefore based on existing information and images held on the former Historic Buildings Register, and on other published references.
House (2 storey, 5 bay) with 2 ranges of farm buildings to east and west forming a courtyard. Double archway at end of long drive on to La Rue du Maistre (relocated as originally enclosed the courtyard in front of the house, and heightened). House: slate roof with two rendered chimneys to each gable. To north slope a central tower with crenellated top rises to 4 storeys. Walls rendered with ashlar effect and rusticated quoins to south, random rubble to north. To south central bay is entrance porch - rendered with mouldings, to north central bay a flat roofed rendered extension. East range includes marriage stone 17 CH EDP 42, with central shield.
Previous survey notes a corbelled fireplace and impressive tourelle stair, which J Stevens states is one of the best and highest circular stone staircases recorded in Jersey.

This C19 property, with early origins, retains its historic character with original features of notable quality and rarity including an impressive tourelle and double round-arched entrance.
Advice offered by MLAG (and others if stated)
At their meeting on 13/08/2012 MLAG agreed with the Jersey Heritage recommendation that the building be Listed as grade 2.
