Background and Discussion
Ville Canut was added to the Historic Buildings Register as a BLI in 2001. In August 2006 advice was sought as to whether the former POW hut located on the site merited inclusion within this registration.
A report was put before the Minister on 9th November2006, compiled by the Curator of Historic Buildings, following internal inspection and further research. That report concluded that the structure satisfies the criteria for registration and recommended that the former POW hut be added to the Register as a pSSI in relation to its historic interest. The Minister accepted this recommendation.
This report seeks to continue the process to formalise the protection of this structure under law by the service of a Notice of Intention to List the site as SSI bu virtue of its special interest.
