Cancellation of Registration of the Hotel Metropole, St Helier, West View Hotel, St Mary, Waters Edge Hotel, Trinity and Old Court House Hotel, Grouville, from the

The department has been advised by the owners of the Hotel Metropole, St Helier, that following its closure on Monday 5th October 2015 it will not be renewing its registration under the Tourism (Jersey) Law for 2016. The hotel will be demolished and its site developed into residential units. Loss of 313 beds.
The department has been advised by the owners of the West View Hotel, St Mary, that following its closure on Monday 5th October 2015 it will not be renewing its registration under the Tourism (Jersey) Law for 2016. The hotel will be demolished and its site developed into housing. Loss of 89 beds.
The department has been advised by the owners of the Waters Edge Hotel, Trinity, that following its closure at the end of the current season it will not be renewing its registration under the Tourism (Jersey) Law for 2016. The hotel will be re-developed into self-catering apartments and will re-registered under the Tourism Law upon completion. Loss of 97 beds.
The department has been advised by the owners of the Old Court House Hotel, Grouville, that following its closure on Saturday 26th September 2015 it will not be renewing its registration under the Tourism (Jersey) Law for 2016. The hotel will be demolished and its site developed into residential units. Loss of 118 beds.
In accordance with Article 15 of the Tourism (Jersey) Law 1948 the Minister may at any time cancel the registration of any registered premises, and withdraw the relevant registration certificate, on any grounds on which under Article 10(6) the registration or the renewal of the registration of the premises might be refused or on the ground that the premises have ceased to be qualified for registration in the register in which they are registered.
It is recommended that the Minister, acting in accordance with Article 15 of the Tourism (Jersey) Law 1948, approves the cancellation of registration of the Hotel Metropole, West View Hotel, Waters Edge Hotel and Old Court House Hotel on the grounds that the premises has ceased to be qualified for registration in the register in which they are registered. This cancellation would be effective from 1st January 2016.
On approval of the cancellation the Hospitality and Leisure Manager will notify the owners of the hotels of the cancellation from the register. Visit Jersey Senior Management, States of Jersey Fire & Rescue, Health Protection and the Population Office will also be notified of the change.
