Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance
Northfields, Byron Lane, St Helier
Purpose of the Report
To seek to confirm the intention to maintain Northfields, Byron Lane, St Helier as a Building of Local Interest (BLI) on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey.
Background and discussion
The Minister previously considered a report on the matter prepared by Jersey Heritage dated 28 November 2008 and determined that Northfields, Byron Lane, St Helier was of sufficient interest to warrant its maintenance on the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey as a Building of Local Interest. A Notice of the Minister’s intent was served on the owners of the property on 23 February 2009 in order to provide an opportunity for representations to be made.
No representations have been received in relation to the notice of intention to maintain the registration, however, in requesting that the matter be reviewed, the owners have cited the condition of repair of the windows of the property as the basis for their desire for the property to be removed from the Register. Their initial submission is included in the appendices dated 08 October 2008.
Legal and resource implications
The inclusion of buildings and places in the Register of Buildings and Sites of Architectural, Archaeological and Historical Importance in Jersey is consistent with the purposes of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002.
