Estate of the late Lilian Eileen Holt (née Cunnington)
- Acceptance of bequest
1. Background
1.1 In her last Will and Testament of movable and immovable estate dated 1st August 2005, the late Mrs Lilian Eileen Holt (née Cunnington) most generously bequest a one tenth share of their value to Health and Social Services.
1.2 The share to Health and Social Services is on condition it be used specifically for the “Jersey Diabetic Society to be applied to the treatment of diabetes in the Island of Jersey”.
1.3 Mrs Holt passed away on 2nd March 2007.
1.4 At the date of her death, Mrs Holt’s immovable estate consisted of a property, 6 Dene Close, St Brelade, Jersey.
1.5 At the date of her death, Mrs Holt’s movable estate was valued at £410,000.
1.6 Stamp duty has been paid on both the immovable estate (£10,500) and movable estate (£2,800).
1.7 Insurance (£1,200) has been taken out on behalf of all the benefactors of the Wills in the event the Wills are challenged within one year and one day.
2. Present
2.1 Following marketing on the open market by Messrs Alder and Cunnington, a purchaser for the property had been found and an offer of £675,000 accepted.
2.2 It is now necessary for the Minister to confirm acceptance of the bequest which will benefit diabetes in the Island by: -

3. Recommendation
The Minister for Health and Social Services is recommended to confirm acceptance of the most generous bequest of the late Mrs Lilian Eileen Holt (née Cunnington) for one tenth of her movable and immovable estate for Health and Social Services for the benefit of the Jersey Diabetic Society to be applied to the treatment of diabetes in the Island of Jersey.
