Who it's for
Jersey Fire and Rescue Cadets offer 14 to 16 year olds the chance to learn about fire and rescue. The main aim is to have fun and encourage learning and development.
The cadets are a uniformed, disciplined youth organisation.
Training and new skills
As a cadet, you'll take part in structured training just like operational firefighters. This includes:
- firefighting
- search and rescue
- first aid
- fire safety
- life saving skills
As well as getting an insight into how the Fire and Rescue Service works, you'll develop leadership and teamwork skills.
Meetings and activities
The cadets usually meet one evening a week at the Western Fire Station. You'll normally start with a parade in uniform.
Cadets can get involved in lots of community service initiatives and safety campaigns to increase public fire safety awareness.
