Ace of Clubs reaches Investors in People status

20 March 2007

Ace of Clubs, a major provider of out of school activities for the 5 - 11 age group has become the first organisation of its kind in Jersey to have achieved the internationally recognised Investors in People Standard.

A presentation to Ace of Clubs will be made by Senator Mike Vibert, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture at Rouge Bouillon School at 2.00 p.m. at the Open Day on Thursday 22nd March 2007.

Situated in Rouge Bouillon School, the organisation that comprises of 14 staff passed the Standard on the day of its first assessment. Club Co-ordinator Mechele Miller paid tribute to the commitment and hard work of all the staff in achieving this prestigious award.

“Since the Club was inaugurated 11 years ago, there has been a strong commitment by all staff to the aims and objectives of the Club that has enabled the teams to deliver their respective activities. There is a wide range of learning and development activities here, with a good balance between mandatory training and learning and development designed to meet individual needs. Staff involve children in planning their activities and this is a big plus for our success.”

Those who meet the standard must demonstrate commitment to staff development, including a clear business plan, staff understanding of the organisation’s aims and objectives, management support, recognition of staff contribution and encouragement to improve standards.

The business unit continues to work with Jersey employers and employees to raise skills, improve business performance and promote a competitive, well-trained and flexible labour market through such highly successful initiatives as the Jersey Undergraduate Internship and the Jersey Apprenticeship Scheme. Other assistance offered includes business advisers, the Jersey Export Development Initiative, the Jersey Innovation Initiative and, through the local high street banks, a Small Firms Loan Guarantee scheme.
