26 May 2009
The consultation period for the States Strategic Plan is now over. During the three month consultation period (to 21 May) there were a total of 226 responses from individuals and organisations, all of which have been considered by the Council of Ministers.
The Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur is delighted with both the number and quality of the responses: “Ministers have discussed the points raised by islanders, and we have re-thought some of our priorities as a result. We are now considering our responses to the amendments from States members, and will make these public before the States debate on 2 June.”
The following changes have already been incorporated as a result of feedback:
• Population proposals have been adjusted
• The potential contribution of charities and other voluntary organisations has been highlighted
• Environmental targets are clearly defined
• Community Safety features as a distinct priority
Many of the consultation responses received proposed specific actions rather than strategic policies. These comments have been forwarded to the appropriate departments for consideration when drafting their business plans.
