There is less than two weeks left for the public to register their view on whether funding for environmental initiatives like recycling and home insulation should continue, and if so how they should be funded.
Members agreed to provide funding in 2009 for schemes such as home insulation grants, waste recycling and improving the bus service but these initiatives will cease in the future unless they are paid for by environmental taxes.
Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf , said: “We have received a wide spectrum of views from the public in over 20 letters and 100 online responses for which I am extremely grateful. The Treasury has looked at various options but I believe that it is important to listen to public opinion. There is still time to contribute but we do have to draw the consultation to a close on 6 July."
