The Jersey Child Protection Committee (JCPC) will hold its annual conference at St Paul’s Centre on Wednesday 14 December 2011 to discuss child protection in Jersey.
Chair of the JCPC, Mike Taylor, said the conference would provide an opportunity for members to discuss child protection strategies for 2012. He said “The annual conference provides professionals who are trained in the protection of children to come together to consider key issues for the following year.
“We are delighted that Jan Horwath has agreed to be this year’s guest speaker and will give a presentation on how a multi-agency approach to child protection can deliver better outcomes for children. Jan is a professor of child welfare at the department of sociological studies at the University of Sheffield and specialises in research and writing on child welfare policy and practice as well as professional education in social care.”
The JCPC promotes child protection across all agencies, statutory and voluntary, and this year has published multi-agency child protection procedures to uphold joint working and professional standards for those working with children and young people in Jersey.
