The Growth, Housing and Environment Department (GHE) is holding a drop-in session on Thursday 30 August from 3- 7pm for all who use the Railway Walk or La Rue du Pont Marquet to come and view the proposals for a new toucan crossing at this junction.
GHE has received requests from members of the community to provide an improved crossing for the popular walking and cycling route at this crossing, where it can be extremely difficult to cross between the passing traffic.
Having considered many ideas and options, GHE is proposing the new toucan crossing at the intersection of the Railway Walk and La Rue du Pont Marquet. The proposals have been streamlined as far as possible to avoid any unnecessary intrusion into this rural setting.
The drop-in session will take place on the site of the crossing; those unable to attend can still have their say as the proposal and feedback questionnaire will be available until 9 September at www.gov.je/consultations
The Department will review all feedback received, together with other relevant information and present a proposed scheme to the Minister for Infrastructure.
Deputy Kevin Lewis, Minister for Infrastructure said, “As much as I dislike putting signals here, following concerns raised, I am pleased that we have developed a proposal that balances the impact on the surrounds and makes it much safer for people, including the many families with young children that use this crossing throughout the year.”
