St Lawrence residents and other interested members of the public are invited to give their thoughts on new speed proposals at consultation events in May.
The events will take place at St Lawrence parish hall on Thursday 2 May from 3pm – 7pm and Saturday 4 May from 10am – 1pm. Questionnaires will be available to complete at the events and also online after the consultation events for anyone who is unable to make it in person.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Deputy Kevin Lewis said: “These consultations form part of an island-wide review of speed limits across all parishes. Growth, Housing and Environment would like to welcome any feedback on these proposals for St Lawrence, in an effort to tackle problem areas for speed continuity across the island.”
Residents, business owners and people who travel through St Lawrence can offer thoughts on the proposed speed changes carried out under the Road Safety Action Plan, adopted by the States Assembly in 2016. Officers will be at the events to explain why the proposals have been drafted and what it means for road users.
Dave Malpas, Transport Planner said: “We have worked to make the proposals easy for road users to understand by limiting frequent changes to the speed limit. The key changes proposed are to reduce the limit around Bel Royal School, expand the connections provided by the Green Lane Network and address concerns from residents on quieter parish roads. These proposals affect 22 roads in St Lawrence, although any roads can be discussed during the consultations.”
