Additional support for university students

09 October 2020

Following an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases globally, departments across Government are reassuring the 1600 students studying off-Island (and their parents or carers) that support is available for them.

Students and parents will be able to access updated information and FAQs on health, travel, and student finance on a regular basis.

In addition, an online counselling and emotional wellbeing service is being reviewed to help university students deal with the impact that new restrictions and uncertainty can have on their mental health.  More details on the service will be available in due course.
Students can also seek advice from their university, student union, and local councils, who are offering additional support and localised advice.

Assistant Minister for Education, Deputy Jeremy Maçon said:  “We are aware that due to the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in other jurisdictions, Jersey students and their families may be anxious and require guidance on various matters including travel arrangements, health issues and loss of income.

“Officers are working closely across departments to respond to this rapidly-changing situation and ensure that the advice and support we are offering is relevant, helpful and up-to-date.”
