Islanders reminded to complete the Census

19 March 2021

Statistics Jersey are reminding Islanders that the Jersey Census 2021 is to be completed on Sunday, 21 March.

7,000 households have already completed and returned their census, which is a higher number of early returns compared with 2011 and the new online option has been proving popular.

Ian Cope, Chief Statistician at Statistics Jersey said: “Nearly 50% of completed forms have been filed online and we’ve received really positive feedback on how quick and easy Islanders have been finding the online option. The paper forms have all been delivered now so all Islanders, if not already done so, should be prepared to complete the census on Sunday.”

This year marks 200 years since the start of the official census and in celebration, Fort Regent will be lit in purple to mark the moment along with other major landmarks across England and Wales.

Support to complete the census is available for Islanders including translated guidance booklets, an Easy Read leaflet, larger print forms and SignVideo. The census team will also be available to provide help and guidance by email during the weekend or by telephone Monday – Friday.

If Islanders require a replacement form they can contact the census office at census@gov.je or by calling 444400.
