Graduates who wish to apply for a new bursary for on-Island teacher training in secondary schools and colleges must apply by Monday, 11 July.
As part of the Jersey Graduate Teacher Training Programme (JGTTP), the bursary will support trainee teachers and lecturers to the value of £25,000.
Interviews will take place between 15 – 19 July in schools and colleges; this will allow applicants to engage with young people as part of the interview process.
The Children, Young People, Education and Skills (CYPES) Department is offering training places for the following teaching and lecturing specialisms:
- Secondary Science (specialising in at least: biology, chemistry, or physics)
- Mathematics
- English
- Business Studies
- Computing and ICT
- Child Development
The JGTTP bursary route is open to Islanders who already have a relevant or related subject degree and a desire to teach and work with children and young people aged 11 to 18 years old.
The formal application is on gov.je and must be submitted by Monday 11 July.
Prospective applicants can find out more by contacting Aimee Jinks-Reidy on a.jinks-reidy@gov.je
Interim Director General of CYPES, Rob Sainsbury, said: “The JGTTP bursary is a great opportunity for graduates to do their training on-Island and become a secondary school teacher or college lecturer in Jersey.
“Successful applicants will receive placements in two local schools or colleges, will be supported with weekly central training and mentor support, and will be ready to apply for a qualified teacher/lecturer role in Jersey by September 2023.”
